YBD 109        Basic English                                                              (2 0 2)  2                                                                                        

This yearly-based course is offered to the freshmen of Faculty of Law, who have enrolled in their undergraduate courses without having to attend English Preparatory School of Çankaya University. At the beginning of the academic year these students are given a placement test by the Office of Basic and Elective Courses in order to identify their level of English proficiency. Based on the scores they make from the test, they are either placed in any of the starter, elementary, or pre-intermediate groups, or   entitled to enroll in the YBD 209 directly. The scores of the students who have qualified for the YBD 209 will appear in their transcripts as the course grade of the YBD 109.

The YBD 109 provides a foundation for language skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking) in order to help students gain an understanding of the conventions, use, and function of English Language  at the basic level. During the course students will be familiar with the basic grammar structures in context; effective use of vocabulary, basic strategies and practice for reading and writing skills through communicative and meaningful activities.
